There are many great places to eat both on the island and in nearby East Point, and Apalachicola both on the mainland. I have pictured here some of my favorites. At the end there is a link to the Chamber of Commerce web site that list many more. You will need to stay more than a week try them all.

.magnolia_grillTamaras
For really great eating with a five star chef, give Chef Eddies Magnolia Grill a try.

If you prefer a little Caribbean/South American food, the chef at Tamaras can make it any way you like it. He even provides cook books for your reading pleasure while your food is carefully prepared to order.

Boss_OysterThe Grill
For more casual dining try Boss Oyster. The name fits, because they can fix oysters anyway you like them. I like mine fried, Rockefeller, or perhaps just steamed with a shake of parmesan cheese.

The Grill in mid town also cooks to order and they have some of the tastiest fried oysters on the coast. They use a tempura style batter and a little garlic - YUM!

SteamersCoy
Steamers is great anytime, but they offer a lunch special that is different every day, so if you are in Apalachicola. (Perhaps to pick up supplies at the IGA) drop in. They also offer charter fishing and sell seafood right off the boat.

The last picture is a painting from the wall of Sharon's Sea Food Restaurant. The image depicts Coy Shiever, the owner, getting in the days catch. He needed the wall painted so his daughter took care of the problem with a full wall mural. This is only a small section. Unfortunately a hurricane did severe damage to the building (Took the bathrooms clean off :-) )and it has not been re-opened as of September 2007. Hopefully they will be back with us soon.

I would be remiss if I did not mention the Indian Pass Raw Bar. You can be sure of getting more food than you can eat, but it may not be what you came in to get. My wife ordered a cheeseburger from the large Coke menu over the bar. The owner listened carefully then said: "Nope - I am not going to mess up my grill. Pick something else. How about some boiled shrimp." My wife said ok and got more than she could eat of the best shrimp she had had in a while. After that interaction, I asked what he recommended. he said grilled oysters. I agreed and shortly he presented me with 28 of the tastiest oysters ever. They were grilled on the half shell with spices and cheese, but he never would tell me exactly what he put in them. He said I could come back and ask for the house special and get something like them, but he would promise nothing else. Over all an unexpected and wonderful experience. We go back every chance we get.

One final place deserves my comment and that is BJ's Pizza and Subs. His slogan is:" The best piece on the beach" and he has the T-shirts to prove it. Stop by for a game of pool, a bottle of beer and the best pizza around. (Note: They also have salads and subs if that is what you want.) Bathing suits ok, just don't come in dripping wet. They frown on that.

Now, here is the Chamber link. It will open in a new window so when you are finished you can close the window and we will wait right here for your return for more fun.
