You may wonder how the house came to be called "All Daddy's Money". Well ... Carol and I had been coming to the island for many years. We planed to retire and move to the island so every trip we looked for the perfect property. We wanted a house that was close to the beach, but not so close it would be damaged by hurricanes. We wanted a ground level house so we did not have to climb steps. And we wanted a house large enough to entertain the grandkids and still provide a quiet place to escape while they were enjoying themselves. When Carol's father passed away, she inherited enough money to purchase the house so we thought it only proper to call it All Daddy's Money.
Welcome to All Daddy's Money
All Daddy's Money - Living Room Lefta As you enter the front door you are greeted with a large colorful living / dining area. On the left is the entertainment system with a VCR, DVD, Surround Sound System and a TV with Video game connections on the front. There is a card table for games and a large multi-drawer chest containing a book exchange, games, information on the island, and videos.

You can see the entrance to the bedroom in the center of the picture. The walls separating the bedrooms from the living area are almost a foot thick. This allows one family to stay up and play while the other family sleeps.

To the right as you enter, there are several comfortable sofas with reading lamps. The sofa to the left of the picture opens out to a queen size bed when needed.

The green lamp sits on the computer table, where for a slight additional charge, you can have high speed internet supplied by the local cable provider. Instructions are in the desk drawer along with printer paper and other supplies. We are considering adding wireless Internet if there is any interest. Please let us know if you are interested.

All Daddy's Money - Dining Room Further into the room is the spacious dining table and bar with seating for 12 (8 at the table and 4 at the bar or game table) The flower arrangement may be moved during your stay so you can enjoy chatting across the glass top table. Note: While the flowers look very real, they are not so please do not pick or water them :-)

At the rear of the central room is the well equipped kitchen. There are gourmet pans and utensils of all kinds. (Please look for the oyster shucking knife. Opening an oyster with a cooking knife will ruin it. ) There are baking dishes, serving trays, and all the other items you would need to server dinner to a group of hungry people. If you cook a roast, there is a thermometer. If you bake a cake, there are cake pans, serving platters and .. well you get the idea. As a final touch there is a Reverse Osmosis water filter for clean good tasting water and it even supplies water to the refrigerator's ice maker so you can enjoy clean tasting ice in your mimosa.

In case you were wondering, this house was originally constructed in 1957 and according to insurance records, it has never been breached by sea water. Even in the recent hurricanes that flooded New Orleans it only sustained $500.00 in damage to the roof. This is because it is constructed of concrete block with stucco on the outside and sheet rock on the inside. This makes the walls almost a foot thick in places. It is built on the highest point on the island at 11 feet above sea level. It was constructed with a flat roof which was damaged in a hurricane in 1983. When it was repaired the roof was replaced with the hip roof you see today.
